Course overview

This series of 1-hour masterclasses are aimed at professionals working with young people in an educational setting. Each unique session will focus on an area of sexual and reproductive health.

Gender: Affirmation and transition

Date: Thursday October 28th at 4pm

In this session participants will:

  • Improve understanding of inclusive language
  • Identify strategies for affirming gender identity and supporting gender diversity for people in your community
  • Learn about the medical, legal and social possibilities for gender diverse people
  • Access further resources


Consent Education in Schools

Date: Thursday Nov 4th at 4pm and Thursday Nov 25th at 4pm

In this session participants will:

  • Gain strategies for teaching consent
  • Identify opportunities to include consent education from foundation to year 12
  • Understand the laws around sexual consent
  • Understand ethics of sexual consent
  • Apply understandings of consent to online sexual behaviour
  • Identify resources and referral pathways


An Introduction to STIs and BBVs

Dates: Thursday Nov 11th at 4pm

In this session participants will:

  • Identify key health messages for young people about STI detection, transmission and prevention
  • Identify types of STIs & BBVs
  • Understand a sexual health consultation and testing
  • Understand treatment for different STIs
  • Learn where young people can go for help
  • Identify resources and referral pathways


Contraception and Pregnancy Options

Dates: Thursday Nov 18th at 4pm

In this session participants will:

  • Understand contemporary methods of contraception and their efficacy
  • Learn about consultation procedures for accessing contraception
  • Understand pregnancy options including medical & surgical abortion
  • Have opportunity to ask clinical and educational experts about young people accessing contraception or abortion
  • Identify resources and referral pathways
