"Family Planning Victoria's certificate course Sexual and Reproductive Health for Medical Practitioners has been educating doctors for several decades. I was intimately associated with its running from 1981-1991 and now, 30 years later, I still run into doctors who I first met when they did the course, who say to me "That was one of the most useful week's training, because afterwards, I felt really confident in dealing with patients, with reproductive health, contraception and menopause".

Whether you are undertaking GP training, or you have been in practice and would like an 'update', I believe that this is an excellent course to undertake to update your skills. Contraception is an important part of family medicine, and there have been many changes in the methods available, as well our thinking about risks and benefits. After attending this course you would feel confident that you are providing your patients with up to date information."  Professor Gab Kovacs AM, Professor of O&G, Monash University, Honorary Life Member of Family Planning Victoria

Obtaining RACGP QI points

The clinical component is accredited by the RACGP for 40 Category 1 QI points as a Supervised Clinical Attachment.  The theory component is accredited by the RACGP for 40 Category 1 points as an Active Learning Module, which is not a QI activity. However, the Active Learning Module has the potential to meet the QI requirement through the method of reflecting on the learning and applying it to improvements in individual practice.

How to complete a Quality Improvement Reflection form?

Step 1: Identify a Category 1 activity that you completed, reflect on how you applied your learning and submit a ‘Quality Improvement Reflection’ either online or paper-based.

Step 2: Access the online form by logging on to the RACGP website -> Select My CPD -> Select Submit a self-directed activity -> Select and Complete Quality improvement reflection Online form.

Alternatively, download the form, complete it and email it to your QI&CPD unit in your state faculty.
Please note that a Quality Improvement Reflection form and the QI tick is only applicable to GP/s who have:

  • Completed a Category 1 activity
  • Made changes or improvements to their knowledge, attitudes, behaviours, skills and/or practice systems as an outcome of completing a category 1 activity.
