Group Education for Individuals with Cognitive Disability (16 years & over)

Sexuality education is important for everyone, this includes those living with cognitive disability.  

These education sessions are for individuals with cognitive disability (including intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder and acquired brain injury) over 16 years old, around sex, bodies and relationships. During the 1.5 hour sessions we will talk about, and do some activities around sex, bodies and relationships.  

You will have time to ask questions of our disability educators and meet other individuals with a cognitive disability.

Family Planning Victoria helps educate people with cognitive disability on Relationships and Reproductive and Sexual Health issues.

Dating & Respectful Relationships

  • What is a respectful relationship?

Sex & Sexual Decision Making

  • What is sex?
  • How to know if you’re ready for sex
  • Decisions you need to make about sex.

Contraception & STIs

  • 21 June 2017: 4.00pm - 5.30pm

What will be covered:

  • Safer sex
  • What is contraception?
  • Where can I get it?
  • What are Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs)?
  • What do I do about them?


$55 (GST free) per person for all individual registrations at information sessions open to the public.

Tailored Information Sessions

If our public information sessions are not what you're looking for we conduct tailor made, one hour, group sessions. These are customised, age and developmentally appropriate sessions to increase the knowledge and awareness of reproductive and sexual health and relationship issues for people living with cognitive disability.

Tailored education sessions can be held at a service or community space or a residential unit, or you could register to attend one of our calendared, topic specific sessions at our Box Hill site.

The fee for our tailored service is $170.00 (GST free).
