Client and Clinical Services

The Clinics

FPV’s Sexual Health Clinics offer clients a confidential and safe setting in which to discuss sexual health issues and receive specialist sexual health care. Our Clinics focus on the more vulnerable and under-screened groups in the community, and inform the educative and research work of FPV.

  • Sexual Health Clinics are located at Box Hill and the Action Centre in Elizabeth Street, Melbourne.

The Action Centre has been running as part of Family Planning Victoria (FPV) since the 1970s and is a sexual health centre in Elizabeth Street in the city for young people up to 25 years. We consult with young people about all their contraception requirements from emergency contraception to the Implanon. We also see a large proportion of our client group for the treatment or counselling for STIs. This ranges from chlamydia to HIV testing.
The Action Centre provides a number of counselling services and
sees young people for sexual assault counselling, pregnancy counselling, and sexual identity counselling.

Clinic staff are sensitive to the needs of adolescents, marginalised youth, women, men, those who are same sex attracted and people with disabilities. These services are delivered within the social model of health.

Client Services

The Action Centre in the city of Melbourne provides a number of counselling services and sees young people for sexual assault counselling, pregnancy counselling, and sexual identity counselling.

Confidentiality remains an important issue for young people therefore counselling services at the Action Centre are free and confidential to young people under 25. Young people can self refer or are referred from our doctors, nurses and educators or from their school or other health agency.

A common thread that links access and service provision is the perception of a safe environment and confidentiality for young people, so if you would like to talk to someone at the Action Centre call 1800 013 952 or 03 9654 4766.
