2010 CLINICAL EDUCATION

For Division One Nurses

Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health (Nursing)

The following two courses may be undertaken as stand alone courses but to receive the Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health (Nursing), you must successfully complete both courses. If you intend to obtain the full certificate, we recommend doing the Comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health course first to minimise your workload and the number of clinical placements.

1. Comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health (Nursing) course

This is a theory-based course providing up-to-date, evidence-based information on broader issues in sexual and reproductive health.

Monday 23 August to Friday 27 August, 2010

2. Pap test and Introduction to Sexual Health (Nursing) course

This course will enable you to develop the clinical knowledge and skills required to become a Pap test provider.

Monday 22 March to Thursday 25 March, 2010

Monday 7 June to Thursday 10 June, 2010

Monday 13 September to Thursday 16 September, 2010

For Medical Practitioners

1. The Sexual Health and Family Planning Australia Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health for Medical Practitioners

An intensive and comprehensive course for general practitioners, accredited nationally by Sexual Health & Family Planning Australia (SH&FPA), RACGP and ACRRM. The course provides training for excellence in the delivery of sexual and reproductive health in primary care.

2. Specialist update days - one day registration

Doctors not wishing to attend the full theory course may choose to attend individual days. This is an excellent opportunity for GPs wanting a refresher in specific areas of sexual and reproductive health. There is no examination requirement. Category 2 CPD points have been applied for.

A daily fee of $200 (GST incl.) applies. A cancellation fee of 10% of the fee applies to cancellations made within 10 working days of commencement

3. Supervised Clinical Attachments (RACGP points apply) and IUD insertion training

These may be arranged for a fee. Clinical attachments are available at both our Box Hill and Action Centre Clinics. The Action Centre attachment is particularly relevant for doctors with an interest in adolescent sexual and reproductive health.

For Other Professionals

Pregnancy Choices Course

This workshop is for nurses, psychologists, social workers, general practitioners and other professionals who support clients presenting with an unplanned pregnancy.
